Singin' in the Drain

Hey peeps!

So I don't really have the internet anymore. It'll be fixed eventually, but for now, I'm on Leanne's li'l laptop getting my internet fix for the week.

This weekend I went to Toronto for, oh yes baby, Canadian Idol. I decided that since I sing loudly in the shower everyday, why not sing in front of judges and people I don't know just for the experience? Why not, indeed. So off I went and omigosh it was SO much fun!

I arrived Friday and stayed with good ol' Leon. I hadn't seen him in a li'l while either, so it was kind of like an added bonus lol. Saturday I woke up fairly early and Stephanie and I got to the auditions around 10:30. We filled out our paperwork while we laughed and talked incessantly because we were so nervous and finally got our numbers and went in. There weren't THAT many people there, but enough that it was a very unique experience. Lots of commotion, singing, music.. yay!

We sat down and within an hour our numbers were called and in we went. Because we signed up together, Steph and I were in the same group, which was kinda nice because it was like a comfort thing. The wait to get into the room seemed like a million years and I talked sooooo much to random people. I actually thought at one point a very literal thought that if I passed out, they wouldn't make me sing! ...but I gave up on that and went for it.

Steph went first and, to both of our surprise, couldn't get a note out! She just kinda froze, which I'm sure lots of people do, so props to her for at least going. Next was me, so technically I was the first to sing. I was SO nervous and really felt like I was gonna barf, but I sang Careless Whisper and when it was over, my hands were asleep (I guess all the blood ran away?) and I felt SO relieved! Three other people sang, including this REALLY hawt guy from Whitby who we affectionately named "Whitby". At the end, they thanked us, but none of us made it. They hardly let anyone through to the next round (there are two rounds before the celebrity judges even see you). I would estimate that 95% of the people who try out are turned down after just the one very short performance, which I think is not only unfair, but also very boring.

We were in and out within 2 hours. Fun, but short.

Went out that night with Leon and his friends and had an AMAZING time! Went to 5ive (wasn't that a boy band?) on Asian Express Night, so it was very fun, even though I stuck out. I have to say that asian guys seem to love white guys, cause I got hit on like.. a hot man in.. a club. ..yep. lol! We stayed out 'til like 4am and all in all, it was a great first Toronto clubbing experience!

Well, that's all for now kiddies! Have yourselves a safe and happy Sunday evenin'! Don't mix shrooms with beer, as Lisa always says!

My hero of the day: Steph - for being awesome support and at least making it to tryouts!

Confirmation

Yesterday was a horrible day. It proved to me, in more than one way, that I'm making the right choice in moving away. I don't think I'm going to move back.

Nothing else to say.

Never Again

Hoppy Easter, everyone!

(That's what the people at the bank were saying. Don't look at me like I'm crazy. Look at me like I'm super awesome for copying them to make fun of them! Yeah.)

So Easter sucks. Every year is just manages to suck a little more and a little more and this year it was like a vacuum in a black hole. Saturday evening, the roomies and I were supposed to go out for martinis for Lisa's birthday, but their sister Laura got run over by a horse or something so we couldn't go. Now, I'm not angry at Laura for this (lol 'cause that would be illogical and strange), but I was looking forward to it, so to say the least, I was annoyed. I went home instead because, for some reason, I thought people would be around. I spent the majority of the night watching television with my mom (woo, fun..?), and right before I was going to jump off the room, Lindsay called and we went for snacks and drinks, which cheered me up.

The next day I stayed in bed until about 3:00pm because I was dreading the family dinner stuff. Normally my mom makes a good turkey dinner and we have an alright time and it's normally the other side of the family (my pa's) that drives me mental. However, his family didn't even call me, so I thought maybe this Easter, the bunny would be kind to me! I was oh-so-wrong. Bastard rabbit. You see, my mom decided this year that we would go to a restaurant for Easter dinner. Yes, I know what you're thinking. It is retarded, you're right. She also chooses not just any restaurant, but the Sherwood. Now, as any of you Brantfordites know, the Sherwood is like a trash bin, both in the food sense and in the people who go there. It's gross. So long story short, the food was disgusting, and the people in the place looked like they just came from a ho-down or from a retirement facility or both. My mom managed to be incredibly obnoxious without having any alcohol (she's talented, you see), and I left looking like the ass because I snapped at her.

So I am now vowing that never, at least in the near future, will I have a holiday with my immediate family. I'm moving to St. John's so it makes it even easier, but I'm never coming home on holidays unless I have, like, kids and a hot husband.

Needless to say, I called in sick today. Screw you Easter.

What a Box

Hey you!

So, thanks to my good friends at K2XL, I found a list of fun links that are supposedly the best sites on the web. Me, being the skeptical sexy thing that I am, I chose one called "Pandora" and I am completely blown away that this exists.

Pandora is a radio station program. I know, I know, there are tons of them out there. The way Pandora differs from the others is this: it takes a song that you love and makes a station based on that. Any song. It takes the beat, the tune, the amount of vocals, and many other components of your fave song and just keeps playing tunes that it thinks you will like. If it plays one you love, you can put it in your favourites; one you don't like, it won't play one like that again.

Long story short, this is freaking amazing! Make sure you check it out. At the very least, it's a great way to find new music. At the very most, it's Jebus.

Fixing

Yo, kool katz!

So life is the most boring thing ever. I mean, if life is a "thing" lol. I have just over four months until I go out east and I'm not living it the way I've lived the last seven. I'm not putting up with people's crap, I'm not being so messy and lethargic. I'm just not. There's no reason I should have to, therefore I'm going to live my life the way I want to, besides working, of course lol.

Summer shall be good.
